University Marketing and Communications Office
We're here to support university efforts in recruiting new students, community and
alumni outreach, and athletics and event promotion.
We offer a variety of services, from writing and proofreading to web and graphic design
to publicity and social media. We'll do our very best to help you promote your program
or event in a professional and thorough manner 鈥� in return, please be cognizant of
deadlines and lead time.
Please keep in mind: any university publication, including flyers, posters, programs, T-shirts, made available to the general public needs the approval of the USM Marketing Office before its release to the printer. Also, when/where a logo is used also needs formal approval by the Marketing Office.
Deadlines For Most Demanded Media
- 1 Page Flyer 鈥� 2 weeks if only graphic design is required 鈥� this if for design only 鈥� You should allow at least 2 full business days for printing.
- Trifold Brochure - 4 weeks 鈥� for design only. Writing assistance requires an additional 2 weeks. Printing - you should count on at least 7 business days at the printer.
- Postcards 鈥�3 weeks 鈥� we need 2 weeks internal production time prior to going to printer 鈥� allow 5 business days at printer. Postcards should arrive at least 1 month prior to an event 鈥� allow 3-5 days for mailing-so postcards should mail out at least 4 陆 weeks prior to your event. Your postcard graphics request should be submitted 7 陆 weeks prior to your event.
- Publicity for an Event 鈥� We require 6 weeks advance notice 鈥� 8 weeks is preferred.
- HTML Email -2 weeks advance notice. If it's an email we're building from scratch 鈥� add an additional 5 business days.
- Videos 鈥� 2 months advance notice, depending on the extent of the project. As a general rule for a 2 minute video we need two months advance notice for concepting, writing, shooting, voicing, and editing.
