Human Anatomy Lab
The 糖心视频 Human Anatomy Lab provides anatomical science education to students, health care professionals and the community in its state-of-the-art facility.
Approximately 350 students use the Human Anatomy Lab each year as part of their program coursework. The lab provides essential hands-on learning opportunities to undergraduates, graduate students, area high schoolers, and practicing health care professionals.
The Space
- The lab houses eight anatomical donors that USM procures through the University of Kansas Medical Center鈥檚 Willed Body Program.
- Donors are utilized for one academic year and then returned to the medical center.
- All students participate in a Blessing Ceremony, and USM faculty emphasize respect, empathy, gratitude, and compassion.
Education
- The lab provides essential hands-on learning opportunities, including practicing assessment tests, clinical skills such as suturing, and participating in dissection.
- Undergraduate students receive foundational knowledge in anatomy and physiology, and lab work is integrated within the program coursework, such as Kinesiology in the Exercise Science program and clinical application scenarios in Nursing Health Assessment.
- USM鈥檚 Doctor of Physical Therapy, Doctor of Occupational Therapy, and Master of Science in Athletic Training programs all utilize the lab for clinical anatomy and neuroanatomy coursework.
